Hesong was hired as a court-appointed lawyer alongside Gwan-woo, whom she met at the interview venue. Hesong's first case involved Son-bin, a classmate of Su-ha. Son-bin had been bullying someone who later fell from a window, and Son-bin, who was in the classroom at the time, was charged with attempted murder. ©SBS

Hesong persuades Sonbin that admitting guilt will result in a lighter sentence. However, the prosecutor handling the case is Do-yong, an old rival. This ignites Hesong's competitive spirit, and he enlists the help of fellow lawyers Sanduk and Gwan-u to prove Sonbin's innocence. Meanwhile, Jungkook, after his release, throws himself into volunteer work. Suha, hiding his true identity, attempts to make contact with Jungkook. ©SBS

Hae-sung lied to the police, claiming Suh-ha was like a younger brother and lived with her as a guarantor. Circumstances led the two to live together for a while. Meanwhile, she took on a new case with Gwan-woo: a robbery-murder case where twins were the defendants. Meanwhile, Hyeson and Gwan-woo, who had been at odds over a case, suddenly grew closer after securing an acquittal. Amidst this, Chun-sim called Hyeson. Tarjun, released on suspended sentence, witnesses a woman at the hospital where he is hospitalized. Arrested again for attempted murder against that woman, he claims she is none other than his wife, whom he believed he had killed in the past, and that he has been framed.©SBS

Due to the unexpected resignation of the newly appointed public defender, Gwan-woo, who had been the runner-up in the interview, ends up working as a public defender again. Meanwhile, Do-yeon, feeling uneasy about her father's unusual sensitivity only toward Tal-joon, receives a visit from Hae-sung.©SBS

Suspicious calls began ringing at Hae-sung's house. After tracing the number, Su-ha realized Jung-guk had made the calls from a public phone. Hae-sung moved into Su-ha's apartment as a precaution, but now copies of newspaper articles started being sent to Su-ha's room and law office.©SBS

Hesun's closing argument swayed the jury, ultimately saving Taljun as Do-yong had hoped. Learning the details of the adoption, Do-yeon's mother takes her back to her family home, but her father, De-sok, refuses to acknowledge his mistake. Meanwhile, seeing Hye-son rejoicing over the victory, Sang-duk sinks into despair over his own past, regret, and powerlessness.©SBS

Jungkook, having snatched Suh-ha's cell phone and lured Hye-seon out, now attempts to call Suh-ha. Though Jungkook originally harbored resentment toward Hye-seon, he now schemed to make Suh-ha commit murder, just as he himself had done in the past. Gwan-woo once again takes on Jung-kook's defense. He persuades Jung-kook to tell the whole truth, ultimately securing a life sentence instead of the death penalty in the first trial. Meanwhile, Jung-kook's testimony reveals a past incident where Su-ha accidentally stabbed Hae-sung. Soo-ha is summoned by Do-yeon to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of attempted murder.©SBS
