Hundreds of enthusiasts are pursuing an extraordinary hobby - building rockets. These home-made missiles range from six-inch models made from cigar tubes to sophisticated 30-feet missiles fueled by liquid oxygen and kerosene. Some rocketeers fly their machines just for fun, others abandon the trappings of normal life to launch the first amateur rocket into space and win an astronomical prize.
