Doña Sebastiana, a devoted and irascible widow who converted her home into a boarding house, cohabits with her peculiar tenants to whom Love, in its different ways, hurt. Fortunato, a gambler; Orestesa failed poet and Mecha a woman of dubious reputation. They are joined by Lorenzo, who returns to his mother's home after leaving the seminary. (Set in the 60's)
