Máxima meets Prince Willem-Alexander, and sparks fly between the two. When introduced to his parents, Máxima tries to make a good impression, but she is unaware of the secret investigation Queen Beatrix has initiated into her family.

When the press catches wind of the prince's new love, Máxima is hounded by paparazzi in New York. The situation escalates as the media links her beloved father, Jorge, to Argentina's military dictatorship, turning her world -- and his -- upside down.

Máxima moves to Brussels for an integration course. Due to the prince's tight schedule, he cannot visit Máxima, so she feels lonely facing the press scrutiny and her loyalty to her father. Her despair grows with some painful news.

After a disappointing time in Brussels, a heartbroken Máxima returns to Argentina. There, she asks her father if there is anything she should know about his past. As for Willem-Alexander, he goes above and beyond to win back Máxima's heart.

Willem-Alexander informs Máxima of an official investigation conducted on her family. Shocked and furious over being kept in the dark, Máxima wonders what her father knew about the horrific events that took place in Argentina.

During a romantic ice-skating session, Willem-Alexander proposes to Máxima. That day, the results of the investigation into her father are revealed, and Máxima decides to travel to Argentina to tell him the news.
