Dr Keri: Prairie Vet

Dr. Keri Hudson Reykdal has dedicated her life to animals - treating them, training them and riding them. It's calving season in rural Manitoba and Dr. Keri is on call 24/7 in her mobile clinic, one of the busiest and most unusual units to roam the northern prairie.

Treating a beloved family pup that's suffered a brutal wound, Dr. Keri is up with the sun, prepping her mobile clinic for the long day ahead. The team is on the road to Winnipeg for a best in show breeders showcase.

With hundreds of cows and newborn baby calves, calving season is a rough and tumble job for our vet on the go. But this season things aren't getting any easier for Dr. Keri and her rancher husband Calvin.

Dr. Keri and her crew are headed to the wild streets of Winnipeg - wild with feral cats, that is. Feline overpopulation is a growing problem in every major city, but there's a guardian angel who works to improve these homeless cats' lives at a unique shelter.

The team travel to Ebb and Flow First Nation, a remote community on the West side of Lake Manitoba. Dr. Keri and her crew have been working with rescue groups and communities ever since they hit the road with the mobile hospital four years ago.

Despite her busy schedule, Keri and her horse Elvis are training for the upcoming Cowtown derby in Claresholm, Alberta - and she's got a title to defend. It's time to get this four-year-old gelding up to snuff, if he's going to compete on team Keri.

Warm spring air blows through the prairies - and on the ranches, a healthy bull's fancy turns towards a little cow courtship. Dr. Keri makes house calls to bull farms, for their annual check-up.

Dr. Keri and her hospital on wheels are headed to a special spay and neuter clinic for rescued dogs. Unwanted stray dogs tend to roam in packs, especially in rural communities, posing a dangerous threat to each other - and to humans.

It's showtime in the dog days of summer. Dr. Keri and her Australian Shepherds have a busy weekend schedule. But first, our vet is headed to Spruce Hollow Shelties, a breeder who matches Shelties' personalities to their puppy parents.

The final episode of the season takes Dr. Keri and her crew all over the spectacular Interlake region of Manitoba. From a bulldog with a hernia to a donkey named Eeyore, the ladies of the lake visit a variety of patients.
