Gemma Arterton and Eddie Redmayne star in this modern version of Thomas Hardy’s provocative novel. The innocent, impoverished Tess Durbeyfield is driven to claim kinship with the wealthy Alec D’Urberville, who is different from how she had imagined. In time, she meets a very different man, Angel Clare, who seems to offer her love and salvation - but Tess must decide if she will reveal her past.
