Desperate for a child, the Baker and his wife are sent on a quest by a Witch, who promises them their wish if they can do as she asks. Into the Woods, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, was first performed in 1986. Fairy tales teach us a black and white view of life, right and wrong.
