Ordinary teenager Kyra gets zapped when she touches a book that is the subject of a magical tug-of-war between a fairy, Lily and Imogen, an elf. When Kyra wakes the next day, she can see and perform magic. Realising they have made a terrible mistake, Lily and Imogen put aside their differences to fix it.

Imogen and Lily take Kyra to the Library of Magic where their teacher, Professor Maxwell, wants to study their magical mishap. Fearful, Kyra flees home where she accidentally invokes her magic, almost revealing it to her step-father Steve. Lily rescues Kyra and they return to the Library where Maxwell agrees to have Kyra in his class, much to the suspicion of her magical classmates.

When Kyra's friend Peter, witnesses her doing magic, Lily tries to wipe the events from Peter's mind. The risky spell goes wrong and Peter now believes he's Shakespeare's Romeo in a play he's rehearsing for school. While Ruksy searches for a reversal spell, Lily acts the part of Juliet to keep Peter safe. Can a reversal spell be found before Juliet falls for Romeo?

Lily and Imogen's class assignment to protect an enchanted letterbox goes wrong and a postman is transformed into a dog. The dog goes missing and Imogen and Lily need Kyra to use her 'dog whispering' ability to find the pooch before the change becomes permanent.

While Ruksy is giving a tour of the magical Museum, a suit of armour escapes. An alert goes out to magical people and Imogen, who is teaching Kyra to jump, joins the hunt. Against Imogen's wishes, Kyra tags along and discovers that the armour is headed for the Library where she must risk all to try and stop the rampage.

When Kyra and her class are assessed on their ability to handle magical outbreaks, everyone is surprised when DMI Agent Orla arrives to observe. While Imogen's happy to show off to her idol, Kyra feels under pressure to prove herself. When Kyra and Imogen are the only two left standing, Orla releases a dangerous magical force into the human world.

Kyra is confused about her place in the magical world, so Lily tries to help by making Kyra a fairy for a day. Kyra embraces her fairy side, learns to fly and goes on her first tooth transforming mission. But when Lily's magic goes wrong, Kyra is trapped in a human girl, Sally's, bedroom. Kyra must now convince Sally to set her free and keep her big magical secret.

Kyra is struggling to cope with leading her double life in the human and magical worlds. As a result, her basketball practice suffers. Kyra's worried about letting her team down in the quarter finals. When Lily and Imogen use magic to try and help her win, Kyra is furious and deliberately lets the other team even the score.

Suspicious of the weird events around town, Peter enlists Kyra to help him investigate a mysterious house. Peter is called away to make a delivery, so Kyra goes to the house with Darra who knows it once belonged to an elf. While exploring the backyard, Kyra and Darra are transported by a glitching portal onto a beach. Trapped, Kyra explores the area and experiences a strange new magical power.

While Kyra and her classmates deal with magical emergencies, Peter continues to investigate the armour that came to life in River City. When Peter sees suspicious footage of Darra he decides to track him by GPS. Peter follows Darra to Maxwell's Bookshop where he disappears into the Library. With the GPS telling Peter that Darra is nearby, Peter begins to snoop.

Peter threatens to publish his footage of Maxwell's Bookshop online if Kyra doesn't take him to the Library and explain the secret magical world. While hiding from Ruksy in the Library, Peter is drawn into a magical storybook. With Peter missing, Kyra's forced to beg Ruksy for help.

A brush against a magical book re-ignites Kyra's new magic on a day when Mathilda is coming for a sleepover. Kyra's unpredictable power transforms Maxwell into a guinea pig so Lily and Imogen agree to go home with Kyra and keep an eye on her. The sleepover is a series of close calls as Mathilda becomes suspicious about Kyra's weird friends and almost sees Lily as a fairy.

While Kyra is on leave from magic school, she and Mathilda catch up over a friendly game of basketball. When Mathilda invites Darra along, she senses their connection, and leaves them to play one on one. Meanwhile Ruksy, Imogen and Lily venture into the dangerous Restricted Section of the Library in search of the truth about Kyra's new magical powers.

Kyra and Ruksy confront Maxwell about Kyra's extraordinary power and the Professor opens up about his past as a DMI agent and his mission to recover The Orb of Lemuria. While on work experience, Imogen and Darra accompany Orla to the scene of a magical outbreak where a dangerous ancient Egyptian artefact comes to life seizing Darra. Kyra realises her new power is their only hope of saving him.

Sean brings Kyra to the DMI to demonstrate her new power, but Kyra plays a joke which causes Sean to distrust her. Kyra apologises to Sean and she's invited to lunch by Lily's mother Ella. Kyra is on her best behaviour and Lily sings her friend's praises in the hope that Sean will change his mind about Kyra.

The DMI student awards land on the same day Kyra's stepdad, Steve, has planned a camping trip-and Kyra is determined to make both work. She rushes to the ceremony, hoping she can attend and still get home in time. But the night takes an unexpected turn when Kyra receives a special award and then overhears Sean and DMI agents in a tense discussion about her.

Kyra is shocked to learn her Orb magic and memories of the magical world can be removed. Desperate to remember her magical friends, Kyra gets Peter to make a film that will remind her of all that has happened. Kyra's friends are devastated she is leaving so they throw her a farewell party. Before Kyra's magic can be removed, the Orb is stolen and one of Kyra's classmates appears to be the culprit.

Peter visits Kyra thinking her magic has been removed and stumbles across Imogen taking refuge in Kyra's room. With Ruksy's help, Kyra, Imogen and Peter attempt to solve the mystery of who stole the Orb. Ruksy makes a secret trip to the Library to research her suspect as the thief is luring Darra and Lily to activate the Orb.

Kyra wakes the next morning, as a normal girl with no magic and no memory of the magical world. Orla has taken over the DMI and Darra surprises everyone when he joins her cause. Imogen is determined to find a way to stop Orla and Maxwell wants in. Back to her normal life, Kyra spends the day with Mathilda and they visit Maxwell's Bookshop.

As Imogen, Lily, Ruksy and Maxwell embark on their plan to take back the Orb, Peter shows Kyra the video they made about her magic. Kyra's memory and magic return but she discovers that Orla has taken over the Library. As Orla unleashes the Eye of Horus on River City, Steve attempts to keep people safe.
