Horse Rescue Heroes

Four organizations from across the nation arrive at Horse Plus Humane Society Shelter in rural Tennessee for a week of Boot Camp. They were met by two very intense, very unique challenges that showed the difficulties of rescue work, and pushed some beyond the breaking point.

The Wild Horse Rescue Center in Webster, Florida rescues, rehabilitates, and finds new homes for mustangs and burros while providing educational clinics and seminars to the public. They are a non-profit rescue and rehabilitation center, relying on volunteers, sponsorships, donations, and adoptions to provide care for our wonderful mustang rescues.

Rockin KT Equine Redemption, near Reno NV, is a family orientated horse rescue dedicated to help horses become adoptable to others without the time or knowledge to train. They do this for the love of horses and as a solution to prevent these nice animals from shipping to slaughter. Their main goal is to always have a safe place form all the animals to go.

Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue, located in Brentwood, New Hampshire. It can be described in one word: Peaceful. The rescue is greatly loved by their community, where volunteers young and old gather by the dozens to care for the rescued horses. The magic and serenity of the farm is unmatched.

For the Love of the Hoof in Seligman, Arizona is a high desert nonprofit rescue dedicated to helping horses in all walks of life. Their remote, desert climate challenges their ability to survive as every gallon of water must be transported to the rescue by pickup truck! Wendy and her dedicated team stop at nothing to help horses in their community.

The 4 organizations attending Horse Rescue Boot Camp are taken to an auction, where horses destined for the slaughterhouse are sold to the highest bidder. A young draft horse on death's door shocks the rescuers.

The 4 organizations being mentored during the week of Horse Rescue Bootcamp learn how to intake and care for a large number of horses. The horses rescued at auction the night before are transported to the shelter, but sadly some of the horses were too far gone to be saved, and tears were shed as they were given the Last Act of Kindness.

The 4 organizations being mentored during the week of Horse Rescue Bootcamp come together for the last time, and one is chosen as the winner of the $15,000 grant.
