Fiona Fu
Actor, Producer
Fiona Fu began her career in media as a regional television news anchor, quickly rising to become a host, editor and director on national assignments at China Central Television (CCTV), China's state broadcaster. Her contributions left a lasting imprint on Asian broadcast media, before her move to Canada, where she transitioned into a flourishing acting career in North America. Fiona is a 2026 Canadian Screen Award nominee for Best Performance in a Live Action Short Drama, and a four-time Canadian Leo Award nominee for her work in the series Blood and Water, Kung Fu (The CW), and Year of the Dragon. She made her film debut in Lionsgate's Power Rangers (2017), and is known for her grounded, emotionally layered performances in features such as Emmy winner Alan Yang's Tigertail (Netflix) and Aimee Long's A Shot Through the Wall. Her early career established her as a compelling presence in matriarchal roles, beginning with her debut as the Xie family matriarch in Blood and Water. Her television credits include recurring roles on Away (Netflix), Kung Fu (The CW), and Blood and Water (Omni Television); a standalone lead in Peter Huang's anthology series Nine Films About Technology (FX on Hulu); and guest spots on Man in the High Castle, Minority Report, So Help Me Todd, and others. Of late, Fiona has expanded into roles beyond the family sphere, from Li Jun, the head of China's national space agency in Netflix's Away, to a Chinatown loan shark in Lloyd Lee Choi's Lucky Lu (Cannes 2025), with Chang Chen. Her work this past year spans drama, horror, and crime: she appears in Vera Miao's Rock Springs (Sundance 2026, SXSW 2026) alongside Kelly Marie Tran, Benedict Wong, and Jimmy O. Yang; plays mother to Gwei Lun-Mei in Tetsuya Mariko's Dear Stranger (Busan 2025); and co-stars in Jess Dang's Surrender (LAAPFF 2025). Up next, her short Do I Know You From Somewhere premieres at the 2026 Tribeca Festival.
