Ross Turner
Actor
Multi-award-winning actor Ross Turner is perhaps best known to television audiences for his recurring role as Liberty High School math teacher Mr. Wood on Netflix's "13 Reasons Why." Commercial viewers may also recognize him, beneath a great deal of makeup, as the memorable "Upwork Zombie" from the award-winning 2022-23 advertising campaign. After spending two decades in theater and stand-up comedy, Turner made an unexpected leap to film when Grateful Dead concert film director Len Dell'Amico discovered him performing in a comedy showcase alongside the late Robin Williams. The encounter led to a starring role in Dell'Amico's independent feature "Welcome to Dopeland" (2010), launching a screen career that has since encompassed over 120 feature films and short subjects. Turner has appeared in television productions in both the United States and Japan, including multiple episodes of the popular Japanese series "Sekai Gyoten News" and "World Hanzai Mystery." His film work ranges from leading roles to memorable supporting performances opposite actors including Milo Gibson, Greg Germann, Tim Russ, Pepe Serna, Masiela Lusha, and Sheetal Sheth. His performances in the acclaimed shorts "The Bumbry Encounter" and "Ghost in the Gun" have earned a combined 11 festival acting awards. "Ghost in the Gun" also received a Best Acting Ensemble honor shared with "Star Trek: Voyager" actor Tim Russ. A veteran performer with roots in stand-up comedy, Turner is known for bringing intelligence, wit, and quiet authority to doctors, judges, executives, detectives, and other characters who command attention without demanding it.
